Society of Model Engineers

Who We Are

Our club was founded in November 1978 by only twenty or so enthusiastic individuals.

The club has an active calendar and can be seen represented at many of the local exhibitions, events, fairs and fêtes during the summer months.

Currently the club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the Brandon Council Offices, Market Square, Brandon  19:30 for a 19:45 start…

Friends & Families Day

We hold an annual Friends & Family Invitation Day. This is one of the two days and focal points in our club calendar where members and visitors can come together to play with their engines, enjoy each other’s company, and have a jolly good time. It’s a relaxing occasion to simply play, and those who don’t bring an engine take time to have a good natter and to enjoy the engines passing by…

The Weeting Rally

The club participates in the Annual Weeting Steam Engine Rally. The rally is held on the third weekend of July.

Some of the parades include steam lorries, steam traction engines, a full sized steam train and a model steam train which takes passengers round a track. There are many more attractions in this rally.
